Winter Resort Activities

Steele Hill Resort’s variety of amenities makes us an ideal destination for recreation and relaxation throughout the entire year. If the cold weather has had you hibernating the past couple months, it is time to wake up and take a trip up to Steele Hill Resort, as we offer a wide assortment of amenities and activities for you to take advantage of throughout the winter season.

Be sure to pack all of your winter gear as the resort is blanketed with snow for you to enjoy! Start your winter adventure by snowshoeing our extensive hiking trail network. Visit our front desk at the main check-in building to rent snowshoes for your whole party. Our staff will help you find the snowshoe size that best suits you and we even have little “monster feet” snowshoes for younger children to stomp around in the snow. Once you are all geared up, grab a resort trail map and choose your own adventure, whether you want to complete one trail, or connect all three for a longer venture and more difficult workout leading through the Sanbornton town forest.

Once you arrive back at the welcome center, switch out the snowshoes for your ice skates and take some shots on net at our onsite frozen pond equipped with hockey nets. Whether you are shredding the ice or practicing your figure 8, our pond is the perfect location to get some time on the ice with your family, friends or significant other. Be sure to pack your own skates or check the rentals at nearby Piche’s Ski & Sport.

Don’t forget to pack your sleds as well to enjoy a quintessential winter activity! Adjacent to the check-in office, we have a designated sledding hill that is fun for all ages. Whether you brought a toboggan, saucer or tube, plan to gain some speed down our exhilarating hill. If you happened to pack your bigger “sled” (snowmobile) then you are also in luck! We have direct access to the town and state-wide snowmobile trails right off of our property, the perfect opportunity to go explore the backwoods of New Hampshire.

Once your day of winter fun has started to wind down, take a minute for yourself and relax in our four-season outdoor hot tub. Our over-sized tub offers unparalleled views overlooking the snow-covered nearby lakes and mountains and holds a capacity of eight people to fit your whole party! Once you hop out, continue to stay warm by heading over to one of our onsite fire pits to enjoy a s’more, or six.

As always, keep an eye on our activity schedule as our activities director Nancy is always adding fun winter options including guided snowshoe hikes and campfires with s’mores!
